As part of the 2017 Carolinas Solar Eclipse Party, Airlie Gardens will hold an onsite eclipse viewing event on Monday, August 21, 2017. This event is included in general admission: $9 for Adults, $5 for New Hanover County Residents/Military (with ID) and $3 for Children (Ages 4-12) and FREE for all Airlie Gardens members and Cape Fear Museum members – please bring your membership card to show upon arrival.
What is a solar eclipse? On Monday, August 21, 2017, North America will experience an eclipse where the moon passes in front of the sun. The path of totality, where the moon will completely cover the sun, stretches all the way from Oregon to South Carolina. Observers outside the path of totality will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun’s surface. Here in Wilmington, N.C., we will be experiencing a partial solar eclipse.
