Educator in the Garden is a program designed to increase visitor’s knowledge and connection with nature. Every third Thursday of the month, an educator will be out in the garden from 2 pm-4 pm with displays and interactive activities on different topics according to the season. Visitors are encouraged to stop by at any point and ask questions, as well as learn about what they have seen on their walk. During the winter months, for example, educators will help guests learn how to spot and identify native birds on the water using binoculars, our scope and several other useful tools. This program will always include an activity and information geared towards kids as well as adults, so no matter what age, there is something for you at this program!
Several topics for Educator in the Garden include migrating birds seen at Airlie Gardens, plants and flowers in the spring, salt marsh ecology during the summer and more. The location of the program in the garden changes with the seasons, so please make sure to check with our ticket agents about where the educators are set up. Look for weekend programs coming up this summer!
