As you may know we recently completed the Parks Master Plan which was adopted in January 2017. A few of the top priorities the public requested was to improve existing facilities to include field drainage improvements and the addition of lighting to athletic facilities. We are planning underground drainage improvement systems for the Ogden Park football stadium field, Ogden Park “Five Acre” field, Eaton Elementary fields and the Northern Regional Park Red and Green fields beginning in November 2018. We will not be reserving the Northern Regional Park Red and Green fields beyond November 1, 2018. We can expect weather delays during these drainage improvements. In the event there are scheduled delays during these projects we may be faced with scheduling some of these improvements during the spring season.
We are also planning in July to convert the Veterans Park Orange field to a full sized rectangular field with lighting. We are expecting this field to be closed for the fall 2018 season and possibly the spring 2019 season. We will also be installing lighting to the Murray Middle School soccer fields during the summer months. We realize these closings may temporarily affect recreation play but these improvements and additions will be sure to make a positive impact to last for many years.
As a reminder we do post field closures on our website, https://parks.nhcgov.com, and if you would like to register for the Rained Out app please visit Rained Out Field Closure Notification Sign Up. In addition you can call our Parks Weather Hotline at 798-7623 for field closures. We typically determine field closures between 12pm and 1pm. We need your assistance to please spread the word to parents ,coaches, etc. they can be notified of field closures by using the Rained Out Field Closure Notification application by clicking on Rained Out Website and registering their email or phone number.
Again we thank you for all you do to provide athletic opportunities to our community. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.
