Parks Conservancy Awarded Legacy Tree Fund Grant

North Carolina Urban Forest Council selected the Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County as a recipient of the Legacy Tree Fund grant that provides funding to communities in North Carolina for tree planting projects that help educate citizens about the importance of trees, the role they play in improving air and water quality, reducing energy costs, increasing real estate values, providing wildlife habitat, and making our communities more beautiful.

The grant will fund the purchase of 45 trees to be planted on three of the county’s FEMA properties in February 2021.  The Conservancy will be seeking volunteers to help with the planting as we get closer to the planting date.  Please email jorich@nhcgov.com if you would like to volunteer.
