Multi-Use Trails

Off-road trails for pedestrians and bicycles are becoming increasingly more popular methods of transportation from neighborhoods to parks, schools, shopping and more.  Parks & Gardens is working to design and construct multiple off-road paved multi-use trails in unincorporated New Hanover County to provide transportation alternatives and a place for exercise and healthy living.   More Information

FEMA Properties

Did you know that New Hanover County Parks & Gardens maintains over 22 acres of FEMA Hazard Mitigation Properties?  These properties, deeded to New Hanover County, are maintained by the Parks & Gardens department.  Staff has planned to plant trees and pollinator plants on some of these properties to help with stormwater and increase native wildlife, while using them to educate the public.  More information
